Aidar Yegeubayev

Aidar Yegeubayev is Founder and Chairman of the Board of Governors at anticorruption fund Transparency Kazakhstan, Board member at Kazakhstan Bar Association and arbitrator of Kazakhstan International Arbitrage. Aidar is also member of the Working Group on Asset Recovery within the UNCAC Coalition.

In 1993 Aidar Yegeubayev received scholarship from the US State Department under Future Leaders Exchange Program. In 1998 he graduated International Law Faculty of Kazakh State Law University and in 2008 received economist's diploma at the Financial Academy of the Government of the Russian Federation. In 2014-2015 Mr. Yegeubayev completed executive education advanced courses on difficult negotiations at Harvard Negotiations Institute in Cambridge, Massachussets, USA.

Between 1996 and 2013 Aidar Yegeubayev built successful career at law firms including CMS Cameron McKenna LLP, Bracewell and Baker McKenzie as well as PwC where he was Director leading Kazakhstani law practice and was focused on capital markets, M&A and assets structuring.

In 2008 Aidar was appointed as Managing Director of the first private equity fund in Kazakhstan where he lead successful negotiations on establishment of numerous investment funds with other seed investors including EBRD, IFC, IPIC, McQuarrie Renaissance, CITIC Capital Holdings, Cheung Kong Enterprises Holdings Limited, Hong Kong Development Fund, Government of Tajikistan, Government of Kyrgyzstan, etc. In 2013-2017 Mr. Yegeubayev acted as Vice President at the largest oil drilling holding in Kazakhstan being responsible for strategic legal issues, corporate governance and HR policies.

In 2020 he was selected in competition as international legal expert at the subsidiary of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Author of the course on Energy Law and in 2019 became adjunct professor at KIMEP Law School.

Mr. Yegeubayev wrote articles with topics on law, economy and literature.

Structuring private equity funds with total commitments up to 2,300,000,000;

Leading 13 ECM and DCM transactions by oil & gas companies, banks and other issuers for a total amount of over USD 5,600,000,000;

check

Structuring advice to quasi-state and UHNI holding structures (Kazmunaigaz Processing Marketing, Astana Group, Aitas, Chagala, etc.) on assets restructurings with multiple jurisdictions;

check

Due diligence, negotiations and successful acquisition of controlling stake in oil Terminal in Batumi, Georgia on behalf of national oil transportation company KazTransOil;

check

Advising EBRD on debt & equity investments in telecom, medical and poultry projects in Kazakhstan including security packages and providing legal opinions;

check

Over 40 M&A transactions in Kazakhstan and CIS on behalf of international and local investors;

check

Representing Kazakhstan Government for the first country's EOIR rating by OECD at the Global Forum On Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes in Vaduz, Liechtenstein in 2018.
